Corfu Old Town
The Old Town of Corfu is listed among UNESCO’s World Heritage Monuments since 2007, and it’s only 5 minutes’ drive from Corfu Airport. The Byzantines, Venetians, French and British all ruled over Corfu leaving their mark on the island. You can see the influence mostly in the architecture of the buildings located between the Old and New Venetian Fortresses and in the pedestrianised little roads called cantounia. Walking around the Old Town feels like you are in an open museum. The most renowned attractions are Liston, Espianadas square and St. George and Michael Palace. There are at least ten private and public parking areas in the centre of Corfu Town, where you can park your rental car a short distance from the historic centre.
Paleokastritsa
Paleokastritsa is the most famous village of the island located 23 km northwest of Corfu Town and one of Corfu’s most beautiful coastlines. In just 20 minutes’ drive from the Old Town, you can find sandy and pebbled beaches which are scattered all around the area, surrounded by olive tree forests creating a beautiful scenery. On the top of the hill, you can drive to the monastery of the Virgin Mary, built on a rock which dates from 1225. Next to the main beach of Paleokastritsa you will find a private parking area where you can park your rental car in low prices.
Kassiopi
Kassiopi is a well-known fishing village on the northeast coast of Corfu. It’s 35km from Corfu Town which is around fifty minutes’ drive. It was built during the ancient times. Today is a village full of charm with its central square, its picturesque port and the ruin of a Byzantine castle. Around Kassiopi you will find three picturesque beaches with crystal clear water. In less busy periods you might be able to find a parking space by the harbour but there’s a large carpark when entering the village where you can park your rental car safe and easy!
Canal D’amour
The Channel of Love also known as Canal d’amour is the most photographed beach in Corfu. It’s located between the villages Sidari and Peroulades, on the northern coasts of the island at a distance of about 32 km from the city of Corfu, approximately an hour drive. The Canal d’Amour consists of some rocky cliffs made of clay which permitted to the sea and the wind to create this lovely channel. There is not a particular parking space when visiting Canal D’amour so park your rental car on the street or at the private parking areas of the restaurants around the beach as long as you order something there!
